Dr. Upankar Chutia is an Associate Professor at Alliance School of Law, Alliance University, Bengaluru. He is the Centre Head of Alliance Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (ACIPR), Alliance School of Law. In addition, he is the School’s coordinator of Technology Enabled Learning. He received his Ph.D. in Intellectual Property Rights (Law) from Amity Law School, Amity University in Delhi NCR. He holds a L.L.M. degree from Symbiosis Law School in Pune, as well as a Bachelor of Laws from Bangalore University. He has been a pro-bono consultant to IP firms, companies and start-ups advising on crucial areas of Copyright and other IP rights. He has been delivering lectures on various dynamic topics on IP and immensely working on promotion and protection of IPR. Several Ph.D. scholars have completed their Doctorates under his guidance, and he continues to guide Ph.D. Scholars researching on grey areas of IPR and other legal arenas such as NFTs, AI, Trade Secrets, etc. He had also served as a Panel Judge at various prestigious International and National Moot Court competitions, and also chaired technical sessions of International and National Conferences and Seminars.
